The Halal logo is the official symbol indicating that a product meets halal standards in accordance with Islamic law and national regulations. In Indonesia, the authority to issue halal certificates and the halal logo lies with the Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Starting March 1, 2022, BPJPH implemented the new halal logo in the shape of a purple gunungan wayang with Arabic calligraphy spelling “halal,” artistically integrated. The philosophy behind this logo includes:
- Gunungan wayang symbolizes the journey of life and Indonesia’s noble culture.
- Surjan/lurik pattern represents the pillars of faith and the balance boundaries.
- Purple symbolizes greatness, purity, and unity.
- Turquoise green represents wisdom and serenity.
The old logo from MUI may still be used during the transition period—until October 17, 2024, for certificates issued before March 1, 2022, and until October 17, 2026, for packaging labels. After these dates, only the official BPJPH logo is permitted.
